5th Draft
5th Draft:
Although this is similar to my 4th Draft I have made some minor improvements and I am now please with the 5th Draft. For example I have added a new sub-heading that makes my magazine look more busy and full.I am very pleased with this front cover as I have managed to stick to the three main colors rule, which I was worried about. I feel my magazine is very feminine (which appeals to the female target audience) and the images that I have used are bright and colorful.

4th Draft:
This is my fourth draft, I now feel as if it is starting to look at the standard that I wish it too. The content seems fuller and the whole cover looks a lot more exciting. As you can see I have added a few items that help my magazine front cover look fuller. For example the small fashion section; I have included a fashion section in my magazine as from my research I found that many pop music magazines use fashion pages to interest their audience and make the magazine have a range of content. I have also added white backgrounds onto my smaller images in the boxes as I feel this makes them stand out and the text more visible.

3rd Draft
3rd Draft:
This is my third draft, and although my drafts are improving, it still isn't upto the standard that I wish it to be at. Some of the improvements I have made are adding the sub heading to the left of the page, changing the background back to white and adding some blue love hearts all the way around this page. I believe this makes the cover have the 'scrapbook effect' that I have mentioned (in previous posts) that many pop music magazines have. This use of cartoon love hearts is also used within this front cover (in the bottom right hand corner of the magazine.)
2nd Draft
2nd Draft:
This is my second draft, as you can see I have changed the font color and added images and a new slogan. I have also moved the date and added a price in order to obey to the codes and conventions of print media. I changed the background color to experiment and see what my magazine would look like if a deeper color was use. Although it makes my images seem brighter I feel that it drags the magazine down. My magazine could also use more slogans, images, cartoons etc. in order to fill the empty spaces.
1st Draft
1st Draft:
This is my first draft, although I am pleased with it I feel it is a little too bare and altogether quite dull. I have used a white background as that is what I have seen used in other Pop Magazines (e.g. Top of the Pop's). I have also taken a few ideas from the Top of the Pop's magazines that I have looked at. The Top of the Pops magazine with Cher Lloyd on the cover (see right) is the main inspiration for many of my ideas. e.g. the three black boxes with images and captions and the footer at the bottom, which I have 'copied', 'pasted' and edited so not to break copyright rules and restrictions, I have also used the idea of bar codes and introduced a QR code in order to keep up to the trends and allow my readers to access the magazine's features from anywhere. However, as mentioned before; unlike these Top of the Pops magazine's, my magazine does not look full enough to fit in with the conventions of these. I have also taken an idea from the second magazine cover (Justin Bieber cover). I have decided to look at the use of circles and the '107 brilliant bargain buys'. I like how this stands out against the images and other captions and therefore decided to use it in my own magazine.

Collage of location
Like many other pop magazines I have decided to shoot my images in a studio in order to create that perfect, 'clean cut' look. By doing this I can edit my images backgrounds to a color, pattern or style without hassle. It was also a lot easier for my models/artists to have their images taken in a studio so that they do not feel uncomfortable.
I have used 'photovisi' to create this collage as this allows me to expand my skills using computer programs and technology.
Lighting collage
This collage of my lighting designs clearly shows that I wish to create a studio lighting effect within my photo-shoot I want a fresh, clean and vibrant look because this will follow the trend of pop music magazine covers, now available on the market.
I have used 'photovisi' to create this collage as this allows me to expand my skills using computer programs and technology.
Focus Group
This video shows a focus group that have conducted along with others where we spoke about different music magazines and the opinions of our interviewees (college students of the ages 16 and 17). This focus group allowed me to look at the real opinions and feelings of other media students and evaluate what I can do in my magazine to appeal to their likes and interests.
Layout of my music magazine (computerized)
This is my layout of my music magazine front cover, I have included the 'bubbles' so that the front cover looks more fresh and bright and less 'blocky'.
This is my layout of my music magazine contents page, again I have used the 'bubbles' so that I introduce continuity throughout my magazine.
This is my double page spread. I have used a lot of images because I know that my target audience prefer looking at the pictures rather than reading a paragraph on a band or artist.
Look Book
The following collages are the looks that I will create in my photo-shoot:
I have created them by hand on A3 paper and therefore I have had to take pictures of them instead of scanning them in. The looks I have tried to create are bright, colorful, feminine and young. I feel these collages of the fashion styles represent the band and artist as fun and young which fits in well with my pop genre.

Price
My
music magazine will be a pop music magazine; therefore the majority of the
audience for that genre are a younger age. Ages 7-14 are my age range, and from
the research I have constructed (reader profile) I have also found that the
majority of my target audience are female. At this age the majority will either
be given pocket money or have a part time low paid job. Therefore my magazine
has to be the right amount for them to be able to afford it; for example £2-£3
per week. I think that this price will be affordable for the majority and allow
them to purchase the magazine on a weekly basis.

Little Mix
This image is of 2011 XFactor winners, Little Mix. Because of there good reputation, feminine appearance and happy, bubbly songs they are perfect role models for my target audience as younger girls need positive role models to aspire to be like.
Call Me Maybe - Carly Rae Jepsen
This music video is extremely popular and was released in the UK and Europe on the 20th February 2012. It brought Carly Rae Jepsen to fame and I believe it really demonstrates the pop music genre well also it is a very popular song for my target audience.

My Pop Magazine Mood Board
Here is my mood board that I have created as the basis of my pop magazine, I have taken inspiration from pop magazines ad artists as well as a few different words that are associated with pop music. The reason why the majority of my mood board is pink is because from the research I have conducted I found out that the majority of the pop audience are female and pink is the most stereotypical color associated with young girls.

Reader Profile
This is my Reader Profile for Top Of The Pops! magazine. Unfortunately I could not do a reader profile for Just Pop! as this magazine was a 'one-off' created by Mizz. However Top Of The Pops! is similar and covers the same genre of music. I have made this reader profile so I have some idea of who my target audience are when creating my own pop music magazine.
